So you’ve decided to take the plunge and get lash extensions.
Congratulations, you’ve just taken the first step towards hassle free beauty.
First things first. You should have a consultation with your artist before the procedure. This can be right before the appointment or a few days prior to. The consultation lets you and the artist decide what length, curl type and overall look you want. Often there will be a look book or some before and after photos you can see to help you decide.
After you’ve had a consultation and decided on the look you are wanting, you’ll lie down on a massage table, couch or bed, depending on the salon or if it is a mobile service. The artist will cleanse your eyes ensuring they are free of any oils or make up residue (you should come to the appointment with a clean face). Next, they will secure your bottom lashes with tape or even better, a moisturizing gel eye patch. This will make sure your bottom lashes do not get in the way. Then get ready to relax.
It should take about an hour to an hour and a half on average.
The artist will begin by using tweezers to separate your lashes They will then use another pair of tweezers to apply a single extension to each of your individual lashes. This is a very tedious procedure for the artist, but very relaxing for you. It should take about an hour to an hour and a half on average. Any longer than this shows the inexperience of the artist and becomes uncomfortable for you. Make sure you visit the little girls room before you start as it is very difficult to go with your eyes closed.
Once completed, the artist may use a sealer on the lashes and/or gently puff air on them to help set the adhesive. Then they will gently remove the tape or patch and get you to slowly open your eyes. Take a peek in the mirror, you won’t believe what you see.
Just remember, try not to get them wet or touch them for the first 24 hours.
Now you’re all finished and ready to roll! Just remember, try not to get them wet or touch them for the first 24 hours. After that, avoid any face products with oil in them and be gentle. Try not to rub or pull on them. After your first appointment you may need to get a fill after about 2-3 weeks. Most new wearers accidentally touch or rub their eyes without even knowing it and they fall off a bit easier. Once you’ve got the hang of it, fills should be about every 4 weeks.
Enjoy.
